Show HE MARRABLE IN AT L compulsory c 0 n schooling hoolin Sc to eighteen y cents to meet 31 t with favor geo M cope clerk of the board of 0 education just c completed the attendance statistics of our schools for the term 22 in which a very gratifying increase n attendance especially of students up to eighteen years and over of age Is the most outstanding fact from this fact it seems to be apparent that the law which makes attendance in schools compulsory tor for the ages up to eighteen years is meeting with favor on the part of students as well as parents during tho the term of 1018 1918 19 before that law was in force only 33 30 3 high school students of tho the age of IS 18 and fiver over attended school chool ri while in the term just completed the number of such students was in the year 1919 we had in all our three high schools students 62 in salina 70 in monroe and in richfield Richtie ld this year we had in the salina high school in monroe in richfield and in the tenth grade in koosharem Koo sharem 12 a total of an increase of approximately per cent last terms attendance as compared with the figures of the previous term are as follows 1922 1921 first six grades 2281 2185 junior I hilgh ath and esth grades high schools total the high school attendance compares as follows 1922 IS 1921 salina monroe richfield koosharem Koo sharem grade 12 16 total while we last year had more boys in our schools than girls 1902 boys against 1827 girls it is significant that more girls than bos passed their grades 14 1435 15 boys being promoted against 1598 girls the students who passed their grades in 1922 amounted to against 2880 in 1921 the percentage being about the same 81 per cent for both nears ears the senior classes lit in the high schools this year were attended by 70 students last year by ag 56 of the seniors this year 53 were graduated against 51 last year |
