Show 0 LIGH ING 6 STEM ON CENTER STI protest submitted to city co council cil will bo be dealt with next wednesday the installation of a good street lighting system on center street between main and the depot is being opposed by a good portion of the property owners of 0 center street and it is doubtful whether the council will bo be able to go ahead with this improvement that would be a credit to our city A protest was submitted to the city council last night by george W coons and J L christenson christensen 1 in behalf of several property owners and tile the council decided to meet in special session next wednesday night april 21 to give both sides those in favor and those opposed to the improvement a chance to express their opinion if it should appear that a majority of property owners is aganet the proposition one of the most important thoroughfares of richfield will stay without a proper lighting system we hope this will not be the case A committee of citizens headed by judge H IN hayes haves appeared before the council to see NN whether hether the city could not instead of the property owners bear the burden of installing the manholes for the no new sewer the citizens are very much satisfied with the improvement made by installing the sewer but wanted to alleviate the owners of abutting property where financial conditions are arc hurt to a certain extent by paying for the manhole tho the council showed to the committee that their request roi auest could not be granted for reasons which were convincing to the peti tio ners |
