| Show subscription MATTERS every subscriber to the reaper the past week has had a notice calling attention to the state of his sub this has not been done because the publisher of this paper is questioning any subscriber it is done because of a direct order from the war ivar industries hes board which demands that no newspaper will carry any but paid up subscribers this order is imperative and reads discontinue sending papers after ditto of expiration of subscription unless subscription is i clicked and paid for this ruling to be effective oct 1 1018 1918 again the order reads no publisher may continue contin uc subscriptions sifter after 3 months after date of expiration unless subscriptions are renei renewed ed and paid for so gentle reader if you have been asked to pay your subscription to tile the reaper it ic Is not because we are desirous of pushing you in the matter but these rules must be observed or some day an agent of the war industries board will heave in sight look over our list find some subscriber on the delinquent list and hell close the shop on the ground that we have not observed tile the regulations we have the utmost confidence in our subscribers and it would seem to the casual observer that a publisher would have the right to carry subscribers as long as lie he pleases it bould also seem that it is none of the war industries boards business w whether hether subscribers pay up or not but the orders have been issued and we have to obey we ask the consideration of subscribers bers in this matter and urge that in sending out these statements we are merely obeying orders from the government and while we may question the right of the war industries i board to order us around we will have to obey the orders |
