Show STAKE CONFERE CE IS 16 LARGELY ATTENDED interesting discourses listened attentively to during a two days session quarterly of sevier stake of zion convened in this city saturday and sunday dec 16 17 four interesting and beneficial meetings were held two meetings were held on saturday both being devoted to reports by the stake presidency and the stake auxillia ry organizations pres jas al peterson first first counsellor referred to the excellent conditions through throughout oAt the stake the officers all working together in harmony with improvements everywhere noticeable the relief society and its work was made a theme by sirs mrs lillie liliie B gledhill stake president of that body v A very interesting talk was made by president young he favored religion being taught in the schools all sects being tree free to present their doctrines so that comparisons might easily be made the opening prayer was by nets nels P peterson and the benediction was by william ogden the singing during saturdays session was by the third ward choir under the able leadership of john hood the selections were redeemer of israel ill praise my maker and a beautiful christmas carol at the afternoon session tim timely ely remarks were made by nels P peterson who felt that it was a privilege to be associated with the work of god other speakers made reports of various church organizations and and the manner in which they were treated all well received by the audience bishop allan cameron of 0 marys vale ward the latest one to be organized in the stake spoke briefly on the possibilities in sight and added that all conditions are very flattering one of the visiting brethren from a distance elder joseph W mcmurrin made a scholarly logical and convincing address along doctrinal lines holding the attention of his audience throughout he spoke of the duties of missionaries laboring elsewhere and also ot 0 what Is expected of all members of the church at the close of the afternoon session allen alien cameron was ordained a bishop and set aside to preside in the marysvale Marys vale ward erastus S anderson was ordained a high priest and set apart as first counselor to bishop cameron charles T black was ordained a high priest and set apart as second counsellor to bishop cameron of marysvale Marys vale ward charles W payne was ordained a high priest and set apart as s second counsellor to bishop gledhill of vermilion were held in the basement of the chapel during both sessions ces saturday morning the services were in charge of president jas al peterson Pc terson and the speakers were ciders hiders elders L T bert robbins TA T R gledhill and joseph mcmurrin the afternoon alter noon meeting was in charge of president john christonsen Christon aen seu tile tho speakers being arnfred christensen of joseph Josep lie bishop joseph magleby of monroe south ward patriarch W H and elder anthony ivins there was a very large attendance at sunday mornings meeting the principal speakers being elders anthony w ivins and joseph Alc mcmurrin Murrin president john christensen made a talk dilating upon the urgent need of a new stake building this has been partly decided upon and in the near s future will bo be a certainty elder joseph mcmurrin then delivered the chief address of the morning talking along lines linea that met with the approbation of all his hearers helas he was followed by elder ivins who spoke of the pleasure it afforded him tt to a meet so many old and firm friends bishop W A made the opening prayer the benediction be ing pronounced by E elder lder george charlesworth the singing was by the first ward choir led by elder john W ward the afternoon services attracted many churchgoers church goers after the opening exercises tile the general and stake I 1 authorities wore were presented by tile the I 1 stake clerk george M jones they were vere sustained by the unanimous vote of the congregation the speakers during the afternoon were elders ivins and ln tile the musical numbers were by a select choir under tho the direction of chorister john J ohn hood the selections being I 1 ot of a very high order |
