Show scandinavian PEOPLE WERE entertained sundays reunion well attended and all the exercises very interesting A red letter day in richfield was last sunday the occasion being the scandinavian reunion which was held in the first ward chapel the reunion proved to be much more local than had been planned but few people from adjacent counties counties participating in the program still ac abboth both sessions forenoon and af afternoon ter the chapel was crowded to the doors about scandinavians scandinavian of this city being present in addition to or more from other towns in the county sanpete was represented by a small delegation these coming from gunniss Gunni gunnison sp centerfield Center field and towns just over the sevier line olof anderson president of tile the scandinavian association had the meetings in charge and the programs moved along without hitch or jar the morning session began at 10 the invocation was delivered by andrew anderson after which many speakers made short talks dealing largely in reminiscence and along doctrinal lines editor of the salt lake en was one of the speakers and his talk was especially felicitous other speakers were bishop august erickson of salina chris gregerson of elsinore soren anderson of central christian fjeldsted of gunnison soren anderson of centerfield Center field bishop joseph jensen of monroe bishop H C christensen john kyhl pros pres R al peterson john christensen and chris dausel of elsinore most of the addresses were made in the danish language although this proved to be too great an undertaking for soine some of the speakers who discovered that they could best express themselves in english some of the talks were very brief but not a few of the speakers consumed considerable time in discussing points of interest the session closed at 12 michael nielson pronouncing the benediction during the noon hour all visitors from other towns were looked after by local people peoble who saw to it that they were hospitably entera tined the afternoon session opened at 2 and there was another record breaking audience present after prayer by hans christensen there was a resumption of short talks and impromptu speechmaking speech making which continued until 4 oo elock clock the music was of an exceptionally high order an orchestra furnished a nu number M ber of instrumental selections and a mixed quartet sang some very appropriate vocal numbers mrs airs james M peterson also sang a beautiful solo which was well received The closing prayer was by paul poulson all in all the scandinavian reunion was a success it was much more of a local affair than an any ay iy previously held here but it drew together many very prominent families in this part of the state and they were certainly made to realize that they were hospitably entertained and that richfield was honored because of their presence it was a day of joyous reunion handshaking and greeting and it will go on oil record that the time was spent agreeably sociably and in an interesting manner |
