Show Fresident-Elect Hoover Guest of J. 0. Penney President-elect Herbert Hoover was host to J. C. Penney, agriculturist, stock breeder, publisher and chain store operator, at luncheon in Washington Wash-ington on Saturday, January 12. Mr. Hoover will occupy the Penney home at Belle Isle, Miami Beach, Florida, during his vacation in that state which will start about the 15th of January. While no official importance is attached at-tached -to the invitation extended by the president-elect to" visit him in Washington, it is well known that Mr. Penney is actively engaged in the development de-velopment of agriculture and stock raising along scientific lines. Burdette G. Lewis, vice-president of the company which handles the affairs af-fairs of Mr. Penney at his 120,000 acre farm project located at Penney Farms, Florida, has been named chairman of the reception committee, to greet Mr Hoover when he arrives in Miami, the middle of the week. Mr. Lewis is now engaged in working out a plan for efficient distribution of Florida citrus products along co-operative lines. He is also actively engaged in-j in-j furthering dairying, an industry in I j which Mr. Penney is represented in aj : nationally known way. i i It has been suggested that methods ! employed in the conduct of the Penney j Farms development and at Emmadine I Farms, New York, might furnish the I basis for study of scientific farming and stock raising work to be used to ithe general advantage of farmers '11: over the country.
