A program of noxious weea eradi-I eradi-I cation was planned Wednesday for Isanpt-to County by State Commissioner Commis-sioner of Agriculture, Herden Ben-nion Ben-nion in a meeting at the County Court House at Manti, in which other men participated as follows: County Commissioners, John Gun-c'.eison Gun-c'.eison of Mt. Pleasant and George !C. Cook of Fountain Green, Dr. F j 15. Stevens, state inspector, Clinton Kjar, district inspector, Elmo Irons, member of the state board of agriculture agri-culture from Moroni, C. O. btott, county agent and Ernell J. Morten-sen, Morten-sen, county clerk. It was agreed that the County and state would go 50-50 in the cost of applying the spray material, with the land owners paying for the materials ma-terials which the state will furnish at cost, which is the ten cents a pound laid down at any point in Sanpete County. Commissioner Bennion stated that this same general gen-eral plan of procedure ls Just being inagurated in Piute and Sevier counties, as he had just returned from visiting these two southern counties. The plan as' submitted further provides that the state Board of Agriculture will furnish a power spraying machine and several knap sack dusters to be used in Sanpete County and that a man will b hired to take fuU charge of the operation op-eration of this machinery and conduct con-duct the weed eradication campaign throughout the County, in cooperation cooper-ation with district inspector Kjar and County Agent Stott. Within a week it is expetced that the County Coun-ty weed commissioner wTil have been appointed and the details ot the campaign announced. |
