Show Forest Service Improves Areas In Maple Canyon Increased Demand Makes Necessary Enlarged Playgrounds Due to the increased demand for additional recreational facilities facili-ties in Sanpete county, the forest service is developing new areas in Maple canyon, according to forest service officials who made an extensive ex-tensive survey of this area Friday. The improvements to be constructed con-structed this year are one large comfort station, several brick stoves stov-es and 12 more tables to be added to the eight tables already within the area. On account of the overcrowded over-crowded condition of the present site for campers, the forest service will clean up ana open some additional addi-tional areas. Since the county and forest service ser-vice has constructed an excellent auto road into Maple canyon, this area has become one of the most extensively used small recreational recreation-al areas in Utah, and the demand for additional facilities because of overcrowded conditions has been urged by the Maple canyon development de-velopment committee, with Ernest R. Anderson cf Moroni as chairman. chair-man. The forest service officials making mak-ing the survey Friday were Dana Parkinson, Ernest Winkler, Charles Char-les DeMoiscy and A. P. Christian -j sen. This improvement will be startled start-led in about two weeks and the work will be done by local people. The Peterson Lumber Company ; of Fairview has already received j the contract to furnish the lum-'ber lum-'ber necessary for the improve-i improve-i ments. |
