Show Lining Up For The- Feat Ball Approximately thirty-five aspirants aspir-ants have answered the football call of Coach Brunger at Wasatch Academy Acad-emy who is commencing his eleventh elev-enth year as coach of the local institution. The Tigers bid fair to regain some of their former prestige pres-tige in region four, as eight letter men are back in togs this year. The opening game will probably find a few changes, however, in the positions played last year by the returning re-turning letter men. Captain Mul-!er, Mul-!er, big fullback the past two seasons sea-sons is showing plenty of power in the backfield, and should prove a source of worry to opposing teams. Muller is doing the kicking for the eleven and is getting his punts off in fine shape. Dalpiaz, regular quarter last year, is being alternated alternat-ed with Candland at end; and Candland is taking his turn at calling the signals. Both boys are heady players and the team works well with either of them. . Lyman is back at tackle, although the age limit will prevent him trom playing in many contests. Cavcnah, center, cen-ter, has put on weight during the summer and is performing in fine style. Spalding, regular guard on last year's eleven, has been shifted to half and full and is playing a flashy game. Brush is holding down the other half and is shoving shov-ing up well. Brush is apt to see some service on the line also. Owens, Ow-ens, end, has plenty of competi-- competi-- tion, but his experience of last year should win him a place. Other Oth-er men who have seen service before be-fore and who are battling hard for positions are Thome, center; Key, tackle; Lord,' guard; Ballard Iorg, and Moody, ends; and Bertelson, tackle. Bertelson was ineligible last year, but his size and spe-M make him a real threat for a tackle or backfield post. New men showing show-ing class are Leavitt, end and quarter; quar-ter; and the two Howard boys, guards. Several inexperienced fellows fel-lows are out in suits and offer considerable promise. Among them are Draper, R. Madsen, B. Madsen, Thorsen, Young, Phillips, Cooper, R. Owens, McKfnney, Belliston, Litizette, Johansen and T. Lyman. The semester ruling prevents several sev-eral good prospects from winning berths on the first squad, although every practice finds them out for scrimmage. No games have been scheduled as yet. The league schedule is to b drawn up Friday night at Gunnison. Gunni-son. Coach Brunger hopes to secure se-cure non-league contests for September Sep-tember 26th and October 3rd, but so far no team has been definitely engaged. |
