Barnett Lion Foliies Is Well Received The Follies presented by the local Lions Club at the Elite theatre Wednesday Wed-nesday and Thursday evening drew packed houses and appreciative audiences: audi-ences: judging from the applause and interest. This years production was a burl -soue on the opera, "Madame Butterfly," Butter-fly," and was the production of Mrs. F. J. Nielson of this city. Fifty men, nearly all dressed in women's wo-men's clothing, participated. The three acts depicted first a negro ne-gro specialty act; second, scene in Ja-oan, Ja-oan, third a ladies furnishing establishment estab-lishment in Paris where all sorts ol modern women's apparel was displayed dis-played on live models. The principal characters .perhaps, were Mr., Mt. Pleasant Lion, Dr. A. L Peterson; his private valet, Rufus Radius Rad-ius Johnson Brown, Harry G. Erick-c-n; their wives, Emil Hasler and F. J. Nielson; Butterfly, Jay Hafen; her child, Supt A. E. Jones; Mr. and Mrs. Lion's small son, T. W. Jensen; Mrs. Moroni Lion, A. V. Borg; Japanese '.avern keeper, W. K. Throndsen; French costumer, H. W. Bowen; Japanese Jap-anese police officer, A. E. Darley; soloists, R. W. Candland, Harold Smith Clyde Briggs, Paul Cowan, Leland Shepherd, Harold Oliverson, A. L. Peterson. Pe-terson. H. G. Ericksen, F. J. Nielson. .Unique features were solo dances by Seymour Jensen and Calvin Christensen: Chris-tensen: group dances by Geisha girls, butterflies and hula hula girls in especially es-pecially attractive costumes. |
