Show Great Western In Litigation Foreclosure proceedings based Oil overdue mortgages aggregating $39,000 have been entered in the district court here by the Federal Land Bank of Berkeley, California, against the Great Western Coal company and others. In all, six suils have been filed, each involving involv-ing a separate strip of property. The largest suit, from the stand-, point of defendants is one covering a $7400 mortgage in which there are upwards of two hundred defendants. de-fendants. This suit is for unpaid mortgage on the townsite that was la.d out by the company and ir, which numerous lots were sold. Tne Great Western Coal Company, Elmor Sheya and Majed Sheya are the principal defendants in this, suit. The second suit names the Great Western company, Majed Sheya and Elmor Sheya. It is for $3500 and covers a different bit of pro-1 pro-1 pei ty. The third suit is against the company, Corcelia Storrs nnci George A. Storrs for $6500. These same defendants are named in the next suit on different property, mortgaged at $6,000. I'oieelosurc proceedings again';C the company and Mr. and Mrs. Le-land Le-land B. Storrs, involves $8000 and is the largest single suit among those- entered. Mr. and Mrs. James Russell Storrs, together with the company, are defendants in the last suit lor SU400. The Great Western Coal com-j.anv, com-j.anv, one of the oldest properties in this section of the country, was one of the prime movers in the construction of the Utah railroad along Gordon Creek. Of late years, however, the properties havs been largely moribund. Richard W. Young of Berkeley is principal counsel for the plaintiffs. W. G. Harmon is local attorney for the land bank in this suit.
