Show Parley Christiansen Passes Away at His Logan Horns Parley Christensen, 73, former mayor of Gunnison, and Sanpete county cunnussioner, died at his heme in Logan Tuesday from heart trouble. Although his death was sudden he had been suffering from heart trouble for theh past two years. He has been a resident of Logan for two years, living there to do temple work. funeral services will be held ot Mayfield, Sanpete County, Saturday Satur-day at 2 o'clock. The . body was .aken there Thursday. Mr. Christiansen was born De-cemeber De-cemeber 7, 1857, at Salt Lake, a son of Niels C. and Dorothea Christiansen. Chris-tiansen. As a young man he aid-xi aid-xi in the construction of the St. George, Manti and Salt Lake temples. tem-ples. He was married to Mrs. Christiansen in the Salt Lake en-Jo. en-Jo. vment house in 1881. During 1887 and 1888 he served as a missionary mis-sionary in the northwest and for 16 years following 1890 served as bishop of the Mayfield ward. Mr. Christiansen was a member of the third state legislature and a forester in the Manti Naional forest for-est for 14 years. He moved to Gunnison in 1920, served one term as county ' commissioner and then was elected to a four year term as mayor of the city. Surviving are his widow and the following children: Mrs. Dora C. Anderson of Gunnison; Mrs. Lily Q. Larsen of Mayfield; Aaron P. Chris Hansen of Nephi; Mrs. Merline C. Terry of Hyrum; Junius Christiansen Christian-sen of Provo; Elroy Christiansen of Draper, and N. W. Christiansen former instrumental music director direc-tor of the Logan schools and now studying in Berlin, Germany. |
