Show Banquet in Honor of D. J. McMillan Every section of the state was represented re-presented at the banquet given Thursday evening in the church dining din-ing hall by the Womans Missionary Society in honor of Dr. Duncan J. McMillan of New York, founder of the Firist Presbyterian Church and Wasatch Academy of this city. Nearly Near-ly two hundred guests were seated at the long tables and the room was bri.ght with a profusion of rpring flowers. Following the banquet a short program was enjoyed with the Rev. A. V. Boand as toastniaster. (Letters were read by Principal W. K. Thondson from former principals, George H. Marshall, W. W. Mo Kira-'ban Kira-'ban and C. L. Joints, and Rev. H. II. McCreary. Reminiscent speeches were made toy N. S. Nielson, Rev. E. N. Murphy, Dr. Duncan J. McMillan and Dr. W. M. Paden. Greetings were extended by Mr3. O. F". Wall and Mrs. Mary Phillips. Mrs. Josephine Jose-phine M. Petrie of New York, representing repre-senting the National Board of Missions Mis-sions also made a brief address. Of the first class who entered Wasatch Academy fifty years ago there were present Thursday evening, Mr.and Mrs. S. E. Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Jensen, Mrs. Celestia Barton, Morgan Mor-gan Winters, J. D. Meynick, Hans Nielson and Amasa Scovil. Miuisic for the entertainment was furnished by the school orchestra, Mrs. J. D. Simpson, Mrs. E. F. Garde-mann, Garde-mann, Mrs. Margaret W. Hone, Miss Alma McNeal. Miss Hullinger and ,Miss Irene Bruce. |
