This brought forth a roar from our brother lion, couched in v.gorous and impolite, if not pro fane, words. The roar was heard and heeded in Washington, and in a letter rec ived by Lion Candland. assuring us. n.-t only of the establishment establish-ment of mail boxes, but also n delivery r.ute throughout the city. Lion ('. W. Sorensen explained the Serious condition of a shortage of '' water in Mt. Pleasant. He pointed 1 cut a number of remedies including -. f- co:i-er-. ation an d a personal canvas ;- ' of appeal to all re.-'id' n:s. and also the acquiring of aiditional water by - purchase and development of wells; Whereupon, on motion of Lion Hinckley, i; was resolved: that inasmuch in-asmuch as there, is a serious shortage cf water, that every member of the l ions Club so on record to conserve the water supply in every manner J possible, and to obey the City Ordi nances governing the usage of water, and that they urse their neighbors to do the same; and that a copy of this resolution be published in the Pyramid over the signature of the local Lions Club. On motion of Lion Candland. it was resolved that the Lions Club recommend to the city council that it take steps to establish water loading facilities from out of the city ditches for iuse in tlio sprinkling wagon, instead of from out of the water mains. Lion Candland reported that ther were rumors of some opposition to the construction of the proposed flood prevention dam, and in particular particu-lar as to the means of financing the same. lie stated that the committee com-mittee had spent much time in working work-ing out the system of assessment, and advised that unless the project bad the support of the community the undertaking of necessity must fail. Whereupon, it was resolved that the Lions Club, whole-heartedly and unanimously, get behind this move, ment to construct a Hood prevention dam by individual assessment and and that the members do everything in their power to encourage and assist Ithe accomplishment of this project. Lion Candland presented a letter from Governor Mabey, accepting the invitation to speak at our Charter N'vtbt celebration Saturday, May 24, 1K24. President Eniingcr appointed the following members as a Peroration committee for the Charter Night celebration: cel-ebration: Clarence Anderson, Chalr-man. Chalr-man. L. It. Christensen, .lames A. Whipple, and George 10. Squire. On motion of Lion Bert Seely, the following men were elected Honorary Honor-ary Members of the Mt. Pleasant 'u",s t'lub: Judge Ferdinand Fiick.-.on. J nsi ten James V. Cherry and Judge Goorgo Clirlsteusou. 'n motion of l.lou lien Seely a vote of thank was toudorod the parties who furnished the building and tho good women who furnished the meal for thls meeting. The Lions Club nuartott rendered liistriiiueul.il and vocal no lections which they will present at the District Dis-trict Convention, May 17th, at Sa't l ake City. l.iou Hoand also rendered a num bcr of original songs for .use both at home and at the District Convention President Fatinger announced the coming District Convention at Salt Lake City. May 17th. nd urged the attendance of as many Mt. Pleasant Lions as possible. There will be a: least twelve delegates. |
