Show : MI PLEASANT WILL CELEBRATE IN HONOR OF RETURNED SOLDIERS THREE DAYS OiilJED COMMITTEE PLANS FOR HOME COMING EVENT FOR ALL FORMER RESIDENTS RES-IDENTS OF THE FAIR CITY. Mount Pleasant is making arrangements arrange-ments to give a three day's celebration celebra-tion on August 21st, 22nd and 23rd in honor of her returned soldie-H. If is expected that most of the yomg men will be home from overseas by that time. Councilman John Gunderson has been appointed as general direct" :r of committees. Mr. Gunderson gives out information that committees arj working to make this celebration one of the biggest and best that Mount Pleasant has had for years. It is expected ex-pected that an areoplane will be brought here and make thrilling flights for the big crowds. A boxir.,.; match is another feature that is hoped for. There will be a patriotic meelir,r; at 10 o'clock a. m. in the church pavilion. A speaker from Salt Lake City is expected. Baseball tnam3 will cross bats each day. Hoi'3o races will be numerous. Auto races will be exciting and the people will have something doing every day, with dances at night. Broncho busting will also be on the program. On the 22nd a military mai.'iver will be staged on Main and State streets. Captain Johnston will be in charge of the exhibition. A Home Coming Event. f The celebration is being pinnuecL' for one grand home comir.g cviit. It is in honor of the home coming of the soldiers, who fought for llbe.-ty., and also a home coming for relative and friends. All former ?-sidents of Mount Pleasant are cordially invited (c "Come Home" for a week and enjoy, the pleasures of the old homnstead. Bring your friends. Blink Hawk Invited. ' Old Black Hawk is invited to participate par-ticipate in the big event. We aro informed that the Indian War Veterans Veter-ans are considering this as an opportune oppor-tune time to have a general round-un from all parts of the valley, and other parts of the state as well. Making Things Pleasant. Councilman Gunderson says that a water pipe line will be run over to the City Park and a drinking fountain placed for the convenience of the people. Everything will be done to make it pleasant for visitors. A detailed program will be published pub-lished later. All committees will meet next Monday evening at the City Hall. |
