HJORTH OBSERVE GOLDEN' WEDDING In commemoration of a half century of married life, August Adrianus Hjorth Sr. and Huldah Content Terry Hjorth of Springville celebrated the occasion Thursday.' Nov. 2nd. at the home of their daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. S. E. Hancock at Salt Lake This worthy couple were married at Fairview Oct. 17.1872. Mr. Hjorth was born in Denmark March 4,1847. He Joined the L. D. S. church in lSbu and came to Utah in 1861. Mrs. Hjorth has always been an active church worker. They lived at Fair-view Fair-view for a number of years. He labored among the Indalns at Ind-alnola, Ind-alnola, Utah 22 years. And was first counselor to Bishop Spencer of Indianola ten years, was assistant assist-ant Superintendant of the Sunday school at Mammoth three years, at present he is chairman of the genealogical committee of the Springville second ward. Mrs. Hjorth is also an active church worker. She was president of the Primary association at Indianola fourteen years, was a primary worker work-er at Mammoth and is now a relief society teacher. iBoth have been engaged of late in temple work. They are the ' parents of nine children, seven of whom are living There are 41 grand children living and five great grand children. At the celebration in honor of their golden wedding anniversary all their chilren, 32 grand children and 3 great grand children were present. A large bouquet of roses and a purse of gold coins was presented to the honored couple, after which dinner was served. Their children are Mrs. G. S. Pickering of Payson, Mrs. Wallace Crandall and A. A. Hjorth Jr. of Springville. Mrs. S. E. Hancock, and Mrs. Will Gale of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Emery Tanner of Paul Idaho, and Otis A. Hjorth of Indianola. Mr. Golden Peterson of Fairview and Miss Mable Mower of Milburn were married at Manti on Monday. The high school girls and boys gave them a jolly reception on Tueesday. (Miss Jane Mower went to Thistle Thursday, where she will remain tor some time. The seventh grade class of the high school will hold a halloween party Friday evening. Mrs. Sophia Brown spent a few days at Thistle last week. On Tuesday the Relief Society officers and members visited Mrs. ; L. P. Brady and Mrs. Mary Pritchett who have been ill for some time. They held a short program and other wise cheered the shut ins. They also served refreshments. : Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Orten are twelve ,pound girl at their home Oct. 3 0th. A girl was welcomed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bent Brady on Halloween. |
