Show .HOME MADE GOOffi FOR UTAH PEOPLE CAMPAIGN IS TO BE CARRIED INTO EVERY HOME. Manufacturers, Retailers, Newspapers, Newspap-ers, Ministers, Professional Men And Others EiithusiiisicaJl.v Favoring Proposition That Should Take Root With Every Person. After several months of planning and gathering data, the Utah Manufacturers, Manu-facturers, association has started an intensive advertising campaign for the promotion of the buy at home idea. Through newspapers, direct personal appeal, speakers' bureaus and in numerous other wavs the home industry movement is to be carried into every part of the state, and Utah people are urged to assist in the development of their home state in preference to other communities, commun-ities, which in the past have prospered prosper-ed by reason of the patronage given them by Utah purchasers. In the campaign endeavor will be made to impress upon the residents of the state the benefits to be derived de-rived by all classes from the support of Utah's industries. It is pointed out by the special committee of the, board of directors of the Utah Manufactures' Manu-factures' association that millions of dollars are being sent out of Utah each year for the purchase of articles which are made within the state and . which may be purchased by Utah people without the sacrfice of either price or quality. In fact, the committee com-mittee has determined to make its appeal to the people on that very basis that only when Utah goods may be purchased without the sacrifice sacri-fice of either price or quality are Utah people to be asked to give them the preference. Since the earliest days of the manufacturing industry in this state the home industry idea has been strongly 'urged upon the people. That the results have been helpful is indicated by the rapid growth 'of manufacturing. The opening an-ouncement an-ouncement of the Manufacturers' association contains a list showing nearly three hundred different kinds of articles now made in Utah, in the manufact'ure of which Utah factories, are prepared to coraplele with cut-side cut-side manufacturers. The list contains con-tains practically every article necessary neces-sary to the comfort or the average individual. Notwithout standing the progress which has been made in manufacturing, manufactur-ing, it is asserted that if any great proportion of the people of the state should consistly purchased Utah made goods in preference to products, shipped in from other states, thai manufacturing industry would be in-' creased tenfold in a surprisingly short time. The exact sums being, sent out of the state each year cannot can-not be accurately determined, but an. effort Is being made to arrive at approximately ap-proximately the amount Utah is los- , ing e,ach year and which is being sent away to build up the industries of other states. Manufacturers, retailers and busf-men busf-men generally are enthusiastically supporting the movement to arouse interests in the home industry movement, move-ment, and those who are in close touch with the campaign predict an overwhelming success. |
