Objects of Expedition Will be to Protect American Interests and Interests of the Russian People In Their Fight for Democracy. London. The Japanese diplomatic council lias agreed to the American proposal for joint intervention iy Japan Jap-an and the L'nlti:d States in Siberia, says a Central iVews dispatch from Tokio, under date of July 17. A proclamation will be issued assuring assur-ing Kussia that the entente has no aggressive designs in intervening in Siberia, the dispatch adds. It is probable that a relief commission commis-sion will accompany the joint expedition, expedi-tion, it is stated. Plans for the military expedition to lie conducted jointly by the United States and Japan, with Great Britain and France, it is understood, do not at this time contemplate the reconstruction recon-struction of the eastern fronts as a battle line to draw German troops from the west. The object of the expedition, as they will be outlined in detail in President Wilson's statement, which he personally personal-ly is preparing, will be to protect American interests, the interests of the Russian people themselves in their fight for democracy, and for the safeguarding safe-guarding of vast supplies which will be sent to Kussia as part or trie program pro-gram of economic aid. The president's statement will be the official announcement; to the world of the decisions which were referred to in recent news dispatches from Tokio and London. No official announcements an-nouncements have been made before, It is understood, because the United Stages has been awaiting official word from Tokio of the acceptance of Its proposals, which are understood to differ somewhat from those advanced by Great Britain and France. |
