In order to encourage the raising of grain, and particularly oats, in Utah, tlie Utah Cereal Food company com-pany of Ogden states its willingness to furnish to Utah farmers seed oats and wheat of the kind necessary in the manufacture of "Sunripe" cereals. cere-als. This seed will be thoroughly and properly cleaned and free from all foreign matter and inferior grains This seed will he furnished at a 'charge to the farmer of just what the grains cost the company, there being no desire to make any profit In the transaction. The matter came up at the recent annual stockholders' meeting held at Ogden. Members of the hoard of directors, di-rectors, including M. S. Browning, '"red J. Kiesel, J. A. Hendrickson, George T. Odell and others, were disappointed to learn that during tlu seven or eight months the cereal com pany has, been operating it was compelled com-pelled to go to Montana to secure grain, particularly oats, in sufficient quantity for its purpose. A discussion of the matter revealed reveal-ed the fact that the importation of the grain was made necessary by the fact that the quality of oats raise:' in Utah and southern Idaho, particularly particu-larly the past year, was not as good as the grain obtained in Montana. This, was attributed to the fact that the farmers of Utah and Idaho had not been particular enough in seed selection. |
