Show FIRE DESTROYS CHURCH BUILDING Fire broke out early , Tuesday morning about one o'clock in the First Presbyterian Church at Mount Pleasant and destroyed the building. It was a frame structure and the 'flames soon spread through the entire en-tire building. Two other shack3 were near the church which also caught on fire. They, too were made of lumber and soon were in flames. One was the old garage 'building owned by the Madsen faml'ly and the other was a building used by the Mutual creamery Company for a cream station. A barn and a hay stack containing about fifty tons of hay owned by J. M. Burns, former countysheriff, was burned Monday July 5th, on the Burns farm north of Mount Pleasant. It is not known just what caused the fire. Mrs. Burns discovered the fire first. The alarm was given and neighbors from near by ranches hurried to the scene. Help from Mount Pleasant was also summoned, but the fire had gained too much headway to be overcome. over-come. The barn and other adjacent buildings build-ings were destroyed by the fire. |
