Show RABID COYOTE KILLED BY MRS. CYRUS SEELY Dr. Beatty Says There Are Xow Eleven Elev-en Cases of Rabies in State Under Pasteur Treatment. Mrs. Cyrus Seely of Indianola shot a rabid coyote which came near her home last Saturday. Before the animal ani-mal died it bit the family dog and much feeling of regret was experienced. experienc-ed. The dog was muzzled and locked up for safety. The head of the coyote coy-ote was sent to the state bacteriologist. bacteriolo-gist. How much damage was done by the coyote in -northern Sanpete and eouthtrn Utah counties prior to destruction de-struction of the animal is not known, but the fact that the beast was so a 15 lifted has just been established in an examination of the head by Professor Pro-fessor L. L. Daines, state bacteriologist. bacteriolo-gist. In the early part of this week Thomas Redmond, secretary to the su.te livestock commission, received the head of the coyote sent to him by George E. Holman of Provo, federal inspector of predatory . animals for the biological survey. Mr. Redmond submitted the head to Mr. Daines for expert examination and the latter said that a matured case of rabies in the animal prior to its killing was fully established. Dr. Beatty received from Dr. J. H. Peck of Gold Hill a request for pas-teur pas-teur serum for the treatment of hydrophobia, hy-drophobia, a girl having been bitten by a dog which had previously been bitten by a rabid coyote. Dr. Beatty says that there are now eleven cases of rabies in the state under pasteur treatment,-either for the cure or prevention pre-vention of. hydrophobia. |
