Show Remarkable Case of Heredity. A remarkable case of inheritance of the abnormal fingers possessed by thej first earl of Shrewsbury, related byj Dr. H. Drinkwater to the Hoyal Society So-ciety of Medicine, Is reported In the London Lancet. In a direct male do-l scendant of the earl the ring finge and little fingers of both hands hadi only one Joint, the first two bones be-: lng united, and all the toes, except one, were similarly affected. Thlsi man's father and paternal grandfather1 showed the same abnormality, and1 when the body of the first Lord! Shrewsbury was exhumed in 1874 It; was found that his fingers were in a like condition. As he died In 1453, this peculiarity has come down nearly GOO years through 14 generations. |
