Show FOOTBALL BUILDS STADIUM University of Wisconsin Officials Use Gridiron Receipts to Erect Athletic Enclosure. Of the many universities throughout the country that have just completed or are rushing to completion new stadia to take care of increasing football foot-ball crowds, the University of Wisconsin Wiscon-sin is the only Institution which Is paying pay-ing for its new stadium out of Its own football proceeds. "The concrete stadium Is being built entirely from gate receipts," said Director T. E. Jones of the Badger athletic department, "and we have received re-ceived many commendations from friends and newspapers on the fact that we are building on our own funds." The university regents have just approved ap-proved a $30,000 appropriation out of the football receipts last fall for the latest addition to the partially-completed project. The new addition will take the place of the old wooden stands and will be built on to the portion finished last fall. It will be twenty-eight twenty-eight rows and beneath the stands new dressing rooms and shower baths will be installed for the home and visiting teams. The new section will seat 4,-000. |
