Show HOPE FOR IRRIGATION PROJECT Assurance of Satisfactory Financing Will Be Required However. Salt Lake City. A special to the Tribune from Washington says : "If adequate anil satisfactory assurance of financial backing can be obtained from various irrigation districts, companies, com-panies, etc., in Snake River valley, Idaho, the secretary of the interior late in the coming session of congress, or early in the special session, may submit to congress the proposal for government cooperation in the building build-ing of a large dam at American Falls to Increase the supply of water for existing projects, and to impound additional ad-ditional water to permit the building of some new projects. "But the plan is still in a preliminary prelim-inary stage. If after the survey is completed the American Falls storage project is approved, and if the existing exist-ing irrigation districts and the owners of lauds that may be reclaimed come forward with a definite and satisfactory satisfac-tory plan of financing their respective shares of the big project, the secretary secre-tary of the interior will recommend it to congress. "In connection with this -work, options op-tions are being asked on property in American Falls, which town, if the project is built, will be submerged 100 feet or more by the waters impounded behind the contemplated dam." |
