The 14 5th Field Artillery, Utah's own battery, needs an even 150 men to fill up its ranks, and when they are secured, the boys from the Bee Hive state will take the first leg of the journey towards their ultimate destination Berlin. filled to overflowing when it loft here, "Utah's Pride" has been reduced re-duced to below war strength by disability dis-ability discharges, and the regiment cannot move until it is recruited up to its full quota. Officered by men who are highly trained, efficient and lovable in nature; na-ture; filled with the flower of Utah among the enlisted men and with a reputation won in the Phillipines to sustain, Utah's battery, the 14 5th Field Artillery, is ranked as one of Uncle Sam's finest organizations. Utah's Battery Fine Outfit. N The men are fairly itching to get 1 a chance to drop a 3.2 or 4.7 shell into the abode of "Fritz," and their records on the range prove conclusively conclu-sively that they will give a fine account ac-count of themselves against the Germans, Ger-mans, as they are finely trained and equipped and have the indomitable fighting spirit of all Utahns. The pay will be the highest, with clothing, plenty of good food, well cooked, shoes, medical and denial attendance at-tendance furnished. Opportunity for promotion is on all sides, and men who show "pep," ability to assimilate assimil-ate knowledge and ambition to rise (will soon find themselves wearing chevrons with increased pay and prestige. Men Muy Become Officers. I The enlisted man now has the sauTe opportunity to become an officer of-ficer as the college graduate, as every ev-ery so often schools for the making of Second and First Lieutenants are opened, and men may make application applica-tion and readily win shoulder straps. The young man of 18 to 21 may, after aft-er spending one year in the Battery, I take the examination for West Point, i and secure a liberal education at the j expense of the country and a berth at high pay for life after the completion com-pletion of his studies at the scohol on I the Hudson. Why not go with your own brothers, broth-ers, cousins and relatives? Why not lend your strength and talents by the side of your brother Utahu that autocracy au-tocracy may be forever downed? You will live and fight with those you have known for years, and when the I 145th returns after the war as it will Utah will see that you are pro- vided for, for you will have shown the spirit which all Utah loves. The time is lijnited, and if you wish to do your bit, you must grasp the opportunity op-portunity at once for a few days will suffice to fill the 145th.
