Show somf.thjxc; iok xonnxt; Here is the experience of a pertain newspaper editor. How would you like to fill his shoes? He was known as a booster, always doing his utmost to push every pood thing along. And without his push lng the results would have been slim, i One day a church delegation called at his office anci announced that the church needed funds and was arranging arrang-ing to give a bazaar. "We are going to depend upon your, atHlstance," they said, "for we know j that without newspaper publicity we will not have much of a crowd, and we do want everybody to come and buy." The editor did push, and the crowd came and bought heavily, and the church made much profit from the editorial efforts, But'before the delegation left the office the editor suggested that they run a display advertisement of the bazaar in the paper. This the church people tabooed on the ground that it would be a useless expense, as the news articles would accomplish the desired result. The articles sold at the bazaar were purchased from local ' dealers at cost and were sold at high prices. The editor brought in the crowds from everywhere, paid his own expenses, ex-penses, and received nothing for his labors. "Something for nothing." i (i it |
