Show URGE LAND GRANTS TO STATES. Delegates to Irrigation Conference Have Solution of Problem. Denver. The irrigation conference called by Secretary of the Interior Lane for the consideration of problems relating to the reclamation of arid lands closed Saturday night. The conference con-ference had been in session since on Thursday. The final act of the delegates dele-gates was to adopt a resolution of confidence con-fidence ill Secretary Lane. Investment of postal savings hank funds in the bonds of irrigation districts dis-tricts was urged upon congress. The action was taken up on the report of the committee on irrigation districts. Another section cf the report, which was adopted in full, provides for the underwriting cf irrigation district bonds by the federal government. The only section of the report on which there was negative votes wai one proposed originally by Governor William Spry of Utah, recommending grants of uon mineral lands to the states for the purpose cf financing irrigation projects. On the adoption o: this resolution oy a vote of 9 to 6 the delsgation from California. Nebraska, new Mexico. Oregon. South r'akuta i and Texas voted "No. ' |
