Show I 1 Fairview ; Fairview has again been called to mourn the Iosb of one of her honored pioneers, Mrs. Helena Reese Anderson Ander-son who passed away August, 28th. Mrs. Anderson was born in Wales in 1816, she crossed the ocean with her parents in 1856 also crossed the plains with the handcart company the same year and passed through all the trials and hardships incident to pioneer life. She was the wife of John Anderson whom she bore eleven children seven of them survive sur-vive her. Also thirty five grand j children and two great grand children. child-ren. Aunt Lena as she was familiarly familiar-ly called has been a widow for a number of years and has been a mother to many of the people of her ward. For a number of years she was councilor to the President of the Relief Society and did much good among the poor, the sick and in preparing pre-paring the dead for burial. The large attendance at her funeral, the many tributes paid to her by the speakers and the many beautiful floral offerings of-ferings showed the love and esteem in which she was held. The funeral was held August, 30, L3wls R. Larson, Lar-son, Samuel Bills and Bishop James C. Peterson were the speakers. Another sad death occured this week, that of Edgear Hurst who I died at Provo, he has been very ill there for the past two months with typhoid fever and later operated upon for appendictis which killed him. Mr. Hurst attended the B. Y. U. last winter and was known as an exemplary young man. He was work ing with a company of surveyers at Provo when he took suddenly ill. i His mother and sister have been i at his bedside and every thing that ! - was possible was done for his relief. He was born and raised in Mexico but came to Fairview with his mother, one brother and sister some i two years ago. He is survived by j three sisters and five brothers four of them being among the Mormon Refugees from Mexico. Funeral services ser-vices will be held Wednesday September Sep-tember 4th. A party wns given by the Relief Society officers at the home of Mrs.! Lorenzo Peterson, for all the girls who have been gathering the Sunday Sun-day eggs the past summer, the evening eve-ning was Spent in playing games on the lawn, Ice cream and cake were served about fifty persons were present to enjoy it. In the past six months the Sunday eggs gathered by the relief society for our new church has amounted to $554.40. We think this is pretty good for the Fowles. Miss Hazel DeFries is spending a few weeks with relatives at Maple-ton. Maple-ton. Eli A. Day Jr. Jessie and Pat Young went with the Mt. Pleasant band to Salt Lake City last week. They report an excellent time. Mr. and Mrs. 0. K. Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Chris. Oisen of Provo spent the past week in Fairview. A large number of relatives from out of town were in attendence at Mrs. Ander?ons funeral. Two automobile auto-mobile loads came over from Wales. |
