Show Continual Drain. j So many of our people have j been selling out their holdings and belongings at such high prices and moving into some neighboring state taking their money with them and investing it in other property that it has been making a continual drain upon the surplus money in the banks. There is so much fertile land in this beautiful valley which is neglected that it is astonishing astonish-ing how our people do not awake to the realization of the fact that the wealth that can be accumulated ac-cumulated from the resources which we have at home would support several times the number num-ber of people we have in this valley. Many of the farmers are overburdened with work as they are not able to care for their land properly and it d oes not bring forth its strength. Weeds grow where profitable crops could be raised if the tiller till-er of the soil would give it more attention. Intensive cultivation with up to-date and scientific methods will bring bountious harvests to the laborer who devotes his time and energy with nature that she might bring forth her best results. Many farmers would do much better if they only had about one fourth the amount of land to care for as they could then do it well. One acre of celery or onions would bring far greater profits than many acres of hay and grain. It is not a wise plan to follow in the footsteps of a trailer. |
