Show Centerville To End Year In The Black Jeannette Sessions, Centerville Center-ville City Recorder, announced an-nounced Monday in City Council Meeting that the city will end the year in the black. There has been no overspending over-spending of the 1974-75 budget. bud-get. During the Monday meeting the council voted to make adjustments between departments. Mrs. Sessions and the council are busy making up the budget for the 1975-76 budget. The hearing will be held in June. AFTER discussion and with reservations, the decision was made to accept the ordinance to make application for flood insurance. The vote to do so was four to one for the measure. The council also decided to write letters to their representatives indicating indicat-ing that there are some sides to the program which bear revision. As the meeting progressed, the council discussed the spending of the Revenue Sharing Funds during the coming year. The sum of the monies will be $35,990. $4,500 will be spent for public safety for the purchase of a new police car. $4,000 will be used for the city's portion of the purchase of a new fire truck, and $27,000 will be allocated for the development of the city parks. IT WAS reported that a bid opening would be held on Tuesday for the construction of curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the area on 400 East from Porter's Lane North to 100 South. The road will be black topped with funds from the collector road funds after the improvement project is completed. Since the collector funds were used, it was necessary to follow the state specs concerning the design of the curb, gutter, and sidewalk and the road. Time was spent discussing the petition letters concerning the improvement district on the area west of the Freeway, where the manufacturing development is taking place. ONE OF the first items of business on Monday night was the public hearing to rezone the area about 500 E. and 400 N from agriculture, A-l (p residential R-l-10. The purpose of the rezoning was to construct a subdivision on the former Ellis Wilson property. The petition was granted and the rezoning accomplished later. Councilman Dean Layton reported that almost 100 percent per-cent of the trees and plants which had been installed east of Centerville and for city beautification had grown well in spite of the inclement weather.
