Show lnJ&3s 21 (Eo&flBUGil Uoftes To Lower ProfpeDly Tax Levy The Woods Cross City Council met Tuesday evening at city hall to finalize budget proposals for the fiscal year 1975-76, which will be reviewed at the public hearing hear-ing scheduled for June 17, 8 p.m. in conjunction with the regular city council meeting. ALSO DISCUSSED and approved was the proposal by Mayor LeRoy Parkin that the current mill levy of 13 mills, be lowered to 11 mills. This decision was made after reviewing proposed revenues and necessary expenditures, ex-penditures, and does not include any county property tax adjustment which is evidenTwith recent tax notices. no-tices. A CONTINUATION of the recent debate concerning use of the proposed park site on 1100 South brought the decision to plant the grass this year, then make further plans to meet the needs of our growing community. The residents surrounding the park area attended the last city council meeting, asking the park be built, but to delete the ball park. Additional Addi-tional traffic and noise were : the basic complaints- IN AS much as the school board owns the property and have agreed to let the city use the area for a park until they finalize their plans, it was decided to plant the grass, then make further plans next spring. Councilman Ralph Argyle made the motion to lower the speed limit on 1100 West from 1500 S. to 2600 S. from 35 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour for more uniformity with the North Salt Lake speed limit to the south, and the 25 mile per hour limit set between 1500 S. and 500 S. CHIEF NILES Stahle attended at-tended the meeting and discussed dis-cussed traffic problems in all areas of the city with the council. This proposal has been under consideration for sometime, and following the discussion the motion passed by a 4-1 vote. Continued heavy traffic and lack of sidewalks for foot traffic on highway 91 South of the Parkin overpass to 2600 South was reviewed, with suggestions that the State Highway Department be notified no-tified for safety considerations considera-tions for that area. PAINTED traffic islands have been completed for left turn drivers but on the street parking and lack of sidewalks present serious safety problems. The area will continue con-tinue to be studied for traffic patterns and other needs until the problems can be resolved. The City Engineer, Art Maxwell attended the meeting meet-ing for the purpose of dis-. cussing the Ponderosa Mobile Home Park, where drainage and water facilities have been designed and addresses ready to be assigned. POLICE CHIEF Stahle again asked for more specific street addresses for emer gency calls (fire, ambulance, etc.) and discussed problems concerning mail delivery, school bus pickups, and the fire system in that proposed area. Mr. Maxwell will meet with the owners for those resolutions. Delton Nelson, Water Master also met with the council to discuss water use, reservoir construction progress, and problems of contractors not complying with building permit purchase prior to construction. construc-tion.
