Neilson returned Wei.-nesday Wei.-nesday with other members of the rifle team of the Utali National Guard !from Jacksonville, Pla., where they participated in the national shoot last week. Among the members of the team were ten from the three companies of Sanpete. The other ten were from Salt Lake and Ogden. Even though the Utah team drop-)" drop-)" ped a few points they still retain their place in class B. The Sunday in camp was spent ft sight-seeing in and near St. Augus- w tine, the oldest city in the United States. On the return trie the te L'5 visited the battlefields of Chickamau- h- ga, Missionary Ridge and Lookout y mountain. They stopped at Chicago Saturday night so the members could see some of the big shows. i The Utah boys did well. The teams are classed A, B and C, according to 2il their shooting. The Utah team was selected from an organization of about 37 5 mem- bers, while the states of Illinois, New York and Philadelphia have ten to 9 fifteen thousand to select from. Taken all in all the boys had a very pleasant trip one that did them s - all a great deal of good. The kitchen car proved a great convenience, which enabled them to have everything desired de-sired in the way of edibles and the meals were prepared just when they )ri-" were wanted. i The entire trip comprised a dis- tance of 5,50'' miles. While in Salt Lake City, Capt. Neil-ri" Neil-ri" son was given permission by the com-manding com-manding officers to extend the target season of Company D, one month, and during the month of November a number of cash prizes will be given (or marksmanship and qualification which should create much interest in the local company. Company D will commence its winter's win-ter's work Thursday evening, November Novem-ber 4 th. |
