Show MEXICAN MINERS CHARGED WITH AIDING DESPERADO Men Employed in Bingham Mine Said to Be In Plot to Aid Rafael Lopez to Escape. Bingham. Utah It is reported here, that Mexican miners have been sui plving Rafael Lopez with food and comforts during his stay in the Apex mine, and have been endeavoring to raise a purse to aid him in getting out of the country in case he leaves the mine. His presence there at a recent date has been almost absolutely absolute-ly confirmed. This is the information given the sheriff's forces by Pinker-ton Pinker-ton detectives working in the mine. The information does not indicate that Lopez was in the mine during the past week. It was simply to the effect that during the early occupancy of the mine by Rafael Lopez, food was supplied him by his countrymen, and that a movement was on foot among miners of that nationality to raise a $100 purse for him. The Pinkertbn operatives were employed as miners and say they associated intimately with Mexican laborers. It has been decided by the sheriff's force to bulkhead the stope in the Andy tunnel near the scene of the shooting of J. Douglas Hulsey and Tom Mandervich, where Lopez is reported re-ported to be. The bulkheading of this stope will serve to limit the workings of the mine to which Lopez will then have access, to four miles. Believing that by thus circumscribing circumscrib-ing the limit of Lopez's activities, those who are familiar with the mine, say that this would result in the ultimate ulti-mate submission or death of the fugitive. |
