With the shearing season about m to open in Utah, woolgrowers of the 'i s.ate may congratulate themselves or a report to be issued this week '" frcu the office o the state board of 1! sheep commissioners. An inspec-j tion of all flocks in the state made f during the past month by United I, States inspectors working in connec-p connec-p tioh with state inspectors shows that it v. ith the exception of flocks in i Y.'ayne and Uintah counties the ! siuep of Utah are remarkably free from scabies; the sheep have wintered win-tered exceptionally well and are in ; fine condition better than in a number of years; that the clip this spring will be good and more free from dirt than in past seasons, and that all in all the industry Is in a ( good condition. Shearing will start this week at I two points in the state, Dewey on ! the Df:iver & Rio Grande road near ! the Colorado line and in the Deep 1 Creek country in the western part of the state. From these beginnings the shearing will extend to all other parts of the state. Ipr Wayne county the commission will compel the dipping of all sheep after shearing, while in the quarantine quaran-tine area of Uintah county, embracing embrac-ing most of the sheep raising portion por-tion of that county, the same regulation regu-lation is required, but in all other parts of the state a shearing corral inspection will be instituted. The; inspection of sheep on the ranges, which has been in operation for some time, is not sufficiently thorough thor-ough to satisfy the commission and a more rigid inspection to be made at the time of shearing bras been decided on. o |
