Show "Very Close Call" A "very close call' for American Ameri-can rapitalism is predicted by I'rof. Sumner II. Slitchter, of Harvard Har-vard University, who says that h capitalism fails to survive, "it wil be in large measure because we insist on giving too much consideration to particular producer pro-ducer groups and too litte to the common interests of consumers. ' The professor asserted that the American economy is organioc' to give protection to producer: rather than to consumers. lb points out that the "principal superiority" of the socialistic conomy is that it "relic. -is the i. terests of ounsumers r.x.Uv: ; ... producers." Professor Slicbter ntal.e:' clear, howevci, that while u.i economy is "the most capital!:..!, in t lie world," it has also (lev el oped a "highly socialistic economy, econo-my, with incomes socialized rattier ratti-er than property." This, in his 1 opinion, may prevent socialism ' ot capital. He calls attention to 1 the fact that since 1SS0, the share j of income in this country going to property has been stationary, while the share divided upon employes em-ployes has steadily risen. |
