Show Plans Made For Annual Pioneer Event Plans are rapidly maturing for 'tie annual celebration and homecoming home-coming sponsored by the Mt. Pieasant Pioneer Historical As-.ocation As-.ocation m observance of the e gnty-second anniversary of th" founding of this c ty on March 1. Of the original "fif'ty-niners" '"7 10 were among the first settlers of this community, seven ar still liv ng, Mrs. Hannah Madsen Aldnch, 100; Mrs. Emmeline See-.'y See-.'y Barton, 80, Mrs. M randa See-y See-y Oman, 84; Mrs. Anne Porter Nelson, 85; all of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Sarah J. Borg, 82 of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ephraim Hansen -l of Provo, and William G C Morrison, 84, of Monroe. They will be honored guests at the annual an-nual celebration. Last year the association sponsored spon-sored the publication of a historical histori-cal volume "Mt. Pleasant" complied com-plied by Mrs. H Ida Madsen Longsdorf who has served as secretary sec-retary of the association since its organization in 1909. The book ados another splendid chapter to the history of the state, as it 13 being recorded by various com-mun com-mun ties. The story tells of laying out the town, the great task of building the fort wall, of the first marriage, the earliest church building and school house, first births and deaths. The first murder and similar data, on down to the newest new-est improvements, all are fa th-fuily th-fuily recorded. Several pages are given to the Black Hawk war the capture of Chief Sanpitch, and further Indian activity which kept Mt. Pleasant in a state of alarm :n its years of infancy. The last half of the book includes in-cludes several articles concerned w th the history of various re-1 re-1 gous and educational institutions institu-tions and the industries that have contributed to the progress of the community. Of special merest are "Pioneer Memories" and a descript on of "Early Home Life in Mt. Pleasant." The book w-as very cordially rece ved by the reading public and has been indorsed by manv lc-ad.ng educators and historians, as well as many lay msn.
