Show Clean -Up BeautiSy! We are going through one of the most critical stages of the history of our country. Problems of all types are confronting us, and it is up to us the living, and it has been proven we are living here in Moroni, to carry on rather than the dead. We have just completed a week set aside as clean-up week, and it is with great joy we have now seen how willingly you have all been to respond. He pass on to you our depest and sincerest thanks to all of you, each and evenryone who has helped us by cooperating cooper-ating in the drive to clean up the rubbish around your homes. It is most encouraging to note the amount of waste that was removed re-moved from within the limits of our town. We, as a group wish to thank the Scouts and the City Council for the help that they gave in putting over this clean up campaign. It is the aim of our group to try to push a cleanup clean-up campaign tor the rest of the year. We hope that this week of activity will not be a beginning and the end, but that each one will continue to clean and beautify beau-tify their respective places for the coming Centennial. That when the time comes, we will be prepared to take a place among the top ranks of the towns and cities of our state. Due to conditions brought a-bout a-bout by causese now beyond our control, we are aware of the handycaps everyone is working under. The scarcity of materials to do with coupled with the lack of help places us all in a most critical situation, but we are positive that some great improvements improve-ments can be brought about at not too great an expense. You need not go out of town to see some of the greatest of changes, many homes have taken on the a ppearance of smartness just by the addition of paint, stucco, a porch, walks, or something like that. The becomingness of many places has also been increased immensely by the use of shrubs, trees, flowers, etc. We praise each one who has made steps in this direction and ask you to please carry on. In questioning people of town as to their opinion about livestock roaming the streets, it has been brought to light, that the majority of the people are in favor of having this practice done away with. People have stated that they desire de-sire to take away the fence from in front of their homes, but are hesitant because of the animals that roam the streets. It has been suggested that some means be taken to insure people that they can remove their fences from the front of their homes and not have their places spoiled by some roaming animals. This is an issue we are debating at the present and shall do all we can to see that this situation is met. it looks Jike we will get it arranged ar-ranged so the fences can be removed re-moved and the one whose animal ani-mal is allowed to roam the streets stands a chance of paying for all damages done by said animals. Have you seen the Fire Department Depart-ment of our town? What do you think of it? We were looking it over the other day and came to the conclusion it needs some added consideration. We brought this up to the City Coucil, with the thought that we may get them to see the need for some new fire fighting equipment. They saw the need and have done so for years, but then they gave us a picture of things as they stand as for as the City Coucil is able to respond to this need. We know that all of you have tried to balance the budget and make both ends meet. Well, if you think yours is one-sided, you should have to try to balance the one the city has. Seeing that the city couldn't help us we were offered contributions of money by citizens from town, who feel the need for a fire fighting engine. en-gine. We are now trying to get enough funds from the people of the town to buy an engine. We are making this drive now because be-cause we know of some of this equipment the U. S. Government has for sale. If we are going to get in on it we must act now. This is some of the finest equipment equip-ment available and best suited to our needs, so will all of you do all you can to help us in this endeavor, please! Moroni Young Farmers Ass'n. |
