Show Deadline Set For Benefits To Which Veterans Are Entitled Mr. Val D. Larsen, contact representative in charge of the Veterans Administration office in Manti. today reminded World War II veterans of two important import-ant deadlines of benefits to which thev are entitled. The first affects all alien veterans vet-erans throughout Utah who 'served in the U. S. armed forces .after September 1. 1939. and who are still eligible to become American citizens immediately upon application before December Decem-ber 31, 1946. The second deadline affects approximately all those veterans veter-ans who have let their G. I term insurance lapse. They may reinstate this insurance on oi before February 1. 1917, wi'.hou' a phvsical examination by si.cn-ing si.cn-ing a" statement that their health Is as good now as when then policies lapsed and by payment of onlv two months' Premiums. Deadlines for several other benefits will be set automatically automatic-ally when the President or Con-cress Con-cress officially declares World War II ended. They are: LOANS Home, farm and bus iness loans may be guaranteed or insured by VA up to ten years after the war or after discharge, whichever is later. EDUCATION or on the job training may be started up to four years after the end of the war and completed within nine years. REHABILITATION Disabled veterans eligible for education and training under Public Law 16 face no entry deadline but they must complete their training train-ing within nine years after the end of the war. READJUSTMENT ALLOWANCES ALLOWANC-ES Veterans are eligible for unemployment or self-employment allowances for two years after they are discharged or after af-ter the end of the war, whichever which-ever is later, with an overall limitation lim-itation of five years after the termination of hostilities. While there is no time limit for making application for a disability dis-ability pension there is a limitation limi-tation on appeals. An appeal from the decision of a rating board must be filed within one year after the date of notification notifica-tion of the decision, Mr. Larsen stated. |
