Show Community Canning Program For War Relief Is Urged A nationa-wide program to help provide urgently needed food for the hungry millions in war-devastated Europe has been launched in community canning centers, it was announced today. The Community Canning Program Pro-gram for War Relief was organized organ-ized by the United Nations Relief Re-lief and Rehabilitation Administration Admin-istration with the cooperation of three divisions of the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricul-ture, the . Office of Home Food Supply, Federal and State Extension Exten-sion Services, and Nutrition Pro: grams Branch; the United States Office of Education, Future Farmers of America, the Camp Fire Girls, and the Girl Scouts. The Uniied Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration will ship the contributions. Users of -community canning centers have been urged to step up production ten per cent above all local needs, and to contribute this surplus for free distribution overseas. In communities where there are canning centers, members of victory garden groups, farm organizations, or-ganizations, youth groups, women's wom-en's clubs, Parent-Teacher Associations Asso-ciations and civic and service clubs are supporting the program. |
