Show State Okehs Plate Fund Use To Enlarge Manti Armory State automobile license plate receipts may be used to enlarge the state armory at Manti, Deputy Dep-uty Attorney General S. D. Huffaker Wednesday advised Governor Herbert B. Maw and Sta.e Auditor Reese M. Reese. The oinion fonmially request--d by Mr. Reese followed the gcvernor't directive that $90,000 be transferred from the motor vehicle registration fund to the state ibulldinig commission. The enlarged armory will be lused to house workers in the Manti parachute par-achute manufacturing company. The employer will pay approximately approxi-mately $1000 per month rental. "Monies in the motor vehicle registration fund are not impressed im-pressed or dharged Iwith' any .rust which would prevent them from being diverted," Mr. Huffaker Huf-faker said, "and it must also be remembered that the manufacture- of parachutes is a war project pro-ject and that miamy people will be employed, thereby developing develop-ing the state, and it imiusit further furth-er he remembered that a large portion of the monies in this fund are earmarked for development develop-ment purposes. "In addition I am advised by the governor .'.hat the transfer of these funds as proposed will not in any manner affect the state im securing federal aid." Mr. and Mrs. Stanley C. Peterson Pe-terson and family left last week ifor Cedar City .where they will make their home. Mr. Peterson1, fon.T.ier county attorney, has been appointed probate judge with headquarters at Cedar City. He was elected Mt. Pleasant city councilman at last election. |
