Show Funeral Held for Moroni Man Funeral services for Joachim H. Christensen, age 80, who died as a result of a broken hip, which was received from a fall on Jan. 28th, were held in the West ward chapel on Sunday at 3:15 p. m. with Bishop Morris Jensen conducting. Prayers were offered by Ernest Anderson, a relative of the deceased de-ceased and Heber Anderson. The speakers were Elder Elmo Irons, Elder George Anderson, Bishop Ephraim Nelson and Bishop Morris Jensen, all of whom paid beautiful tributes to his devotion to his church and his family as well as to his life and character. A vocal duet, "Lay My Head Beneath The Rose" was sung by by Joyce and Bruce Irons with Mrs. Faye Draper accompanist. I'he combined East and West ward choir furnished furished three numbers with Udel Anderson Ander-son as director and Mrs. Heber Christensen accompanist at the orean. The floral offerings were profuse pro-fuse and beautiful and a large number of people were present to show respect to the deceased an family. Mr. Christensen was a retired farmer and truck gardner, and xOimer city seton. He died in a alt Lake City hospital on Thursday. Thurs-day. He fell the preceding Sunday Sun-day night, breaking his right hip. He was removed to the hospital hos-pital Monday, death resulting from complications following the injuries. He was born iln Denmark, September Sep-tember 8, 1862, a son of Christian Sorensen Dunn and Louisa Jo-achimsen. Jo-achimsen. He was married in Denmark to Anina Marie Jepsen, June 6, 1891. After embracing the L D S faith they came to U-tah U-tah and had made their home in Moroni since 1910. He was an active worker in the L D S church, serving many years as ward teacher. He was city sexton for twenty years. His wife died February 5, 1927. Surviving are four sons and iour daughters, Mrs. Margaret jacobsen and Charles Christensen Christen-sen of Moroni, S. M. Christensen, Jacob Christensen, Mrs. Amethe C. Jensen and Harold Christensen Christen-sen of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ella C. Anderson of Monroe and Mrs. Eleanor Christen en of Sacramento, Sacra-mento, California; 39 grandchildren; grandchil-dren; two great-grandchildren; a brother and two sisters, Soren C. Christensen and Mrs. Chris-teha Chris-teha Christiansen of Moroni and Julianna Christensen of Denmark |
