Show Board Clerk Retires From Service After Thirty Years After serving more than 30 years as clerk of the North Sanpete San-pete board of education, John S. Blain of Spring City, has retired Joseph I. Beck, Spring City, president presi-dent of the board, was named to succeed him. Angus M. Black, Spring City, was named to fill the remainder oi Mr. Beck's term, which expires ex-pires Jan. 1, 1945. After these appointments had been made, board members at a meeting last week named L. Edward Ed-ward Nielson, Fountain Green, president and John E. Jensen, Moroni, vice president. The tax levy was fixed at 14 mills, an increase of one mill over last year's levy. The in-1. in-1. 1 eased revenue derived from the additional levy will be set aside as a building fund reserve. The board adopted the following follow-ing school calendar for 1945-46: Sept. 3, teachers' institute at North Sanpete high school; Sept. 4, individual school faculty meetings; meet-ings; Sept. 5, instruction begins; Nov. 22 to 25, Thanksgiving recess; re-cess; Dec. 22 to Jan. 2, 1946, Christmas vacation. Schools will be closed during U E A sessions. Armistice day, Columbus day, Lincolns and Washington's birth-days,Arbor birth-days,Arbor day and other similar holidays will be observed with appropriate exercises. Schools close May 17, 1946. Mr. Blain is believed to be one of the two clerks of educatoin boards in Utah to have served more than 30 years in that capacity, ca-pacity, the other is the clerk of j the Tooele board. Before assum-1 ing the position as cleck in May, 1 1915, Mr. Blain was a school ! trustee and also a member of the school faculty for several years. He has also been clerk of the North Sanpete L D S stake since 1918, a position he still holds. |
