Show U. S. Planes To Finland It is refreshing to read that oeleaguered Finland, fighting for her life against Russian aggression, aggres-sion, will be helped in her struggle by the ecqulsition of lorty or fifty planes being built n this country. The new type Brewster fighting fight-ing planes had been ordered by the U. S. Navy but, because the Navy was in no hurry the planes have been soid to the Finns. This ,s what might be called practical help to a democracy in distress and it violates no regulation of neutrality. Fnland, it is said has about $4,000,000 in this country with which to buy munitions and guns Besides it has a credit of $10 000 -000 wth the RFC for the purchase of foodstuffs and "civilian" supplies. sup-plies. Of course, use of the larger i credit here for such purposes will release other Finnish gold for the purchase of war supplies. The Finns have won the ad- -miration of the world by their defense against the Russians They have asked help from the nations of the wrold and they deserve help. Moreover, the United States, through its congress con-gress if necessary, should not 1 nesitate to lend the Finns some 1 money. The republic is a good ' risk on the basis of its record in ' ..ay ing back the war debt. |
