Show Public Health Column An exp-ession of sincere appreciation appre-ciation for the very excellent cooperation coop-eration and promp:ness of local health officers and practicing physicians phys-icians in reporting new cases of : m r.fnicable diseases -to the Utah State Board of Health aocompan-ci aocompan-ci weekly report of communicable communic-able diseases released this week by Dr. William M. McKay, Director of the Division of Communicable Dis-s:se Dis-s:se Control. The system of reporting communicable com-municable diseases on a weekly oasis his been in operation in Utah only six months, Dr. McKay says, o-i January 1, 1938 the form of the report was completely 'named to comply with the standard stand-ard set by the U. S. Public Health Service. Regardless of the newness new-ness of such reporting and the recent change in form, according to Dr. McKay the reporting is now ninety per cent complete. Not only are the health officers and physicians compHmented on their splendid cooperation In re-po re-po ting, but they are invited to ake complete advantage of the services available to them through the offices of the esoecially trained train-ed district, health offices. D . McKay's note of appreciation concluded with the following truism: tru-ism: "It is only through such intelligent in-telligent and unselfish cooperation of all health and educational agencies agen-cies that the health of the people of our State can be most adequately adequat-ely protected." A total cf 709 new cases of communicable com-municable diseases was reported to the Board of Health during the week ending March 11. Decreases were noted in the number of cases of chickenpox, measles, and smallpox; while influenza, in-fluenza, muws, pneumonia, scarlet scar-let fever and whooping cough showed show-ed increases. Kane County and Price reported no diseases for the week. |
