Show May Prove Beneficial The distribution of surplus food commodities through the use of food stamps is still in what one might call the experimental stage but already the plan has won the approval of the cities in which it has been put into operation. opera-tion. The food stamps, good for surplus sur-plus foods, are given to families I on relief and must be used in the ; purchase, through regular chan-i chan-i nels, of farm products placed on a surplus list. The new list, effective effect-ive October 1st, includes butter, eggs, raisins, apples, pork, lard, dried prunes, onions, dry beans, fresh pears, wheat flour and whole wheat flour and corn meal. It is barely possible that a development of the food stamp plan may provide a method by which surplus food products can be distributed to the people of the nation instead of going to waste in the hands of the producers. This will benefit everybody and prevent an economic loss. |
