Show A New Alliance Some years ago three little countries in the southeast of Europe Eu-rope formed what was callede the Little Entente. Czecho-Slovakia, Roumania, and Jugo-Slavia were the nations and their preliminary agreement was mainly one of defensive de-fensive character. Within the recent months this alliance has been transformed into in-to a stronger working agreement which almost makes the thiee countries one in foreign affairs. The three ministers for foreign affairs will form a permanent council coun-cil to direct a common policy. Already Al-ready each country has renounced the right to make any treaty without with-out consulting the other two. The formation of this group was originally hailed as a French diplomatic diplo-matic victory. The recent strengthening strength-ening of the alliance was caused by fear of Italy, and while Prance may have smiled the three little countries needed no prompting. The exposure of Italy's efforts to ship arms into Hungary was incentive in-centive enough. Already the nations of Europe are forming in rival groups. Germany, Ger-many, Italy, Austria and Hungary see things from a similar viewpoint. view-point. Against these France, Poland, Po-land, and the Little Entente have drawn together. Italy and Germany have taken the lead in advocating a revision of present treaties. The opposing nations seek to maintain the status sta-tus quo. At the present time Poland Po-land fears a German attempt to destroy the Corridor. Jugo-Slavia distrusts Italy and both want the territory contained in Albania. |
