Acting as legal advisor for soldiers at one of General Mac Arthur's largest and most important im-portant New Guinea bases is not the only duties of Captain LeGrand Carlston, former Salt Lake City lawyer and now a' base Judge Advocate here. In addition, he supervises the administration ad-ministration of all military justice jus-tice at the base, and advises the commanding off cer on problems pro-blems of military law. Prior to his assignment at this base in Decfi'iiber, Carlston was an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate at Headquarters, United States Army Services of Supply, South west, Pacif Area I Captain Carlston practiced lawin Salt. LakeCityunt.il May, 1942, when he was inducted into the Army at Ft. Douglas, Utah. Six months later he was sent to Judge Advocate General's Gene-ral's School at Ann Arbor, Mich graduating in December, 1942. He was then assigned to Hqs.
