Show CHARGES VIOLATIONS OF THE SAFETY ACT Chnrginjr violations of the safety appliance act, the United states government filed a suit recently against the Denver and Rio Grande, asking a hundred dollars damages on each of eleven elev-en counts, or a total of eleven hundred dollars. The suit was based on information obtained by tho Interstate commerce commission, nnd at the suggestion sugges-tion of that body was brought under direction of tho attorney general of tho United States. The violations nre alleged to have occurred August 23, 1015, when eleven box cars wero hauled haul-ed westward from Thistle with couplings which, it is charged, did not measure up to the specifications speci-fications of tho safety appliance act. m . 9 |
