Show MILITARISM AND MILITARISTIC SLAVERY MUST BE DOWNED FOREVER. Strikes in Western industries are fewer, and those that remain are being settled with the aid of the government indeed, sometimes at the demand of the government. Striking workmen in industries essential to tho winning of the wnr is a most important setback to the country at a time like the present, and wherever they occur they should be handled judiciously, justly, honestly hon-estly and promptly. This is no time for protracted argumentation over the rights of labor and capitnl both nrc in the same boat and must sink or float together. It is a fact that tho past few weeks hnve seen the cessation of several imiwrtant strikes that harrasscd Western industries, particularly the ore, metals and shipping industries, nnd practically prac-tically all of them have been satisfactorily settled set-tled nt the instigation of the federal government. This is as It should be. All must keep right on tho job and do more than our "bit" our share in helping to rid the world of the mennce of universal militarism nnd militaristic slavery. |
