Show GOV. SIMON BAMBERGER DISCUSSES PROHIBITION "Tho enforcement of tho prohibition law will bo ono of tho host thhiRs that has over happened In tho state of Utah," says Gov. Simon Rnmberger in Wednesday's Salt Lako Tribune. "Ono of ,tho chief benefits that will come with it will bo that it will rosult , In meat individual saving among tho people nnd develop a busi-jiiossliko busi-jiiossliko community everywhere in tho state. It will affect n class of peoplo perfectly willing and anxious to do tho right thing, but who in tho past have not been nblo to control their appetites. Tho man who can control himself needs no help, but for the benefit of those unfortunates who have inherited appetites for liquor it will bo an invaluable boon. It will save thousands who, in the languago of profosaionnl people, aro afflicted with the disease of drinking. "Thoso who nro now employed in tho manufacture and disposal of intoxicating liquors will find other employment just ns profitable profit-able as that which they nro now following. This fact has been demonstrated in several of tho states which nre now in the prohibition pro-hibition list. In Colorado, where I stopped on my Enstcrn trip recently, re-cently, I wns informed by business men that, in spite of having liad great anxiety concerning tho future, before the state went dry, there is not a vacant building, particularly in Denver. Husi-n Husi-n oss men generally have told mo they would not return to the former condition for any consideration. Although a great amount ,cf Intoxicating liquors finds Its way into Colorado from Wyoming, I tho peoplo of Colorado nro doing their best to enforce tho laws, j "It is now up to tho good citizens of Utah to use their influence influ-ence in bringing about an enforcement of tho law nnd to see thnt no intoxicants aro brought in from Wyoming or Nevada, the two states which certainly will go dry within tho next two years. I believe in prohibition from business and economic standpoints, nnd I am convinced that it will make men moro efficient in business busi-ness and protect those who need protection." |
